Creating a floating space on a barge brought a lot of challenges - the proposal had to be light, not very high or compact while having multiple uses. The boat boat is to be used when moored and in motion.

This was a team project and to choose a concept which the team would develop each of us proposed an individual concept.

Our team (Athelstan) developed a concept "net". After a series of design development and experimentation, we reached a final decision.

TBP construction

The concept was developed into 'floating'. The proposal folds and hides. It can create multiple spaces to fit different uses: meeting space, exhibition space, cook&eat space, cinema space, performance space and exhibition space.

The proposal uses the interior and exterior of the boat. It creates a construction which holds the 'floating' spaces. The materials used are bamboo, muslin, TWILL, steel rope, douglas fir, waterprood canvas and PP high tenancy net.

Modularity is interpreted in the furniture and smaller pieces such as the staircase.

The furniture is specifically designed to be stacked and to be used as 44.5 cm high stool or 49 cm stool- both heights fit the existing interior.
